Support for Children and Families
Dyslexia Assessments in Lancashire
If you're worried that your child may be struggling with reading, spelling, writing or memory, you are not alone. A dyslexia assessment can provide clarity, reassurance, and a clear path forward.
At Pathways Dyslexia Assessments, we provide friendly, professional assessments designed to help parents understand their child’s learning profile – and how best to support them at home and school.
Is your child struggling at school?
Your child may be:
- Intelligent but underperforming
- Avoiding reading or homework
- Frustrated, anxious, or lacking confidence
- Falling behind despite extra effort and support
Many children with dyslexia are highly capable – they just learn differently.
✅ Explain why your child is struggling
✅ Provide practical, tailored recommendations
What is a Dyslexia Assessment?
Language Processing
We look at how your child understands and uses spoken language, including listening skills, word awareness, and how easily they can sound out and identify words.
Reading and Spelling
It explores how your child reads and spells, identifying patterns of difficulty and strengths to understand how they recognise words and decode written language.
Memory
The assessment considers memory skills, particularly how your child remembers verbal instructions, sequences, and information needed for learning in the classroom.
Problem Solving
We consider approaches to problem‑solving, including how they think through tasks, apply strategies, and use reasoning skills to work things out.

What to Expect
🗣️ Talk through your concerns
The assessment begins with an initial conversation where you can openly share your concerns, your child’s strengths, and any difficulties you have noticed at home or school, helping us build a clear picture of what is happening and whether an assessment would be helpful. <br>
🧩 Expert Assessment
Your child will take part in one or more assessment sessions that are carefully structured but relaxed and child‑friendly, allowing them to work at their own pace in a supportive environment where they feel comfortable and confident
After the assessment, you will receive a detailed written report that explains the results in clear, easy‑to‑understand language, highlights your child’s strengths, and provides practical recommendations for support at school and at home.
A follow‑up discussion will be arranged to talk through the report together, answer any questions you may have, and help you fully understand the results so you feel confident about the next steps for supporting your child.
